Places Worth Visiting in Iksan, Jeonbuk: Wonkwang University
Translated from the Korean original.

Last week I went to Wonkwang University in Iksan, Jeonbuk to present our project results. It snowed that day and it was cold, so the walk there wasn’t exactly smooth going
but maybe because this campus has such a pretty view, even in winter it had its own charm and I liked the calm atmosphere.

The path isn’t smooth, is it? haha You wouldn’t believe how carefully I walked, afraid I’d slip hehe
This is the road in from the school’s main gate — the landscaping is so beautifully done
In proportion to the school’s long history the trees are old too, and the sheer size and height of them is truly magnificent, and
for a good long while my head kept tilting further and further back heh
Whether it’s an apartment block or a school, as the years pass the buildings grow old
and next to something new they don’t look as good, but compared with them, the things inside them
— the trees — really do seem so very magnificent..
It’s because I love trees^^

That day there was even mist and low cloud, so the mood was wonderful.. And it quietly settled my mind and body
That day I was so nervous because of my PPT ㅠㅠ My phone couldn’t even capture the full height of those trees
Aren’t they truly magnificent? The greatness of nature makes you humble

Most universities have a pond?, don’t they? haha I came here to present last spring too, and the cherry blossoms around this pond were in the most glorious full bloom.
Since the trees are old, the blossoms come out in enormous numbers, so it really was a spectacle.
With the breeze swaying gently, the petals fluttered through the air.. mmm~~~~ young men and women moved about in crowds, completely absorbed in taking photos
And in the middle of all that, there I was on a bench muttering away ㅠ rehearsing my presentation,.. I don’t remember what state of mind I was in haha
Back then I didn’t have even 1 bit of room in my heart to enjoy the cherry blossoms .. ..so I skipped them.ㅠ
That’s why I didn’t take a single photo ㅠㅠ Such a pity

I remember standing up, sitting down and pacing about at the bench you can see over the~~re, repeating the practice over and over without end haha
And that was already seven months ago …. Time really has gone by far too fast.. ㅠ
Today was a presentation as well, and I wasn’t nervous to quite that degree, but every single time I do one it’s stressful ㅠㅠ This is one thing I just can’t get used toㅠ
Maybe I still need to do more of them, or.. maybe my temperament plays a part too..
Anyway, I looked up Wonkwang University’s history and found that it opened in the 1940s..
To think it’s nearly 100 years old… My middle school marked its 90th anniversary when I was in my second year, so we danced the fan dance haha
I danced in it too haha Out of nowhere, here I am talking about my middle school haha
Neighbors, your school days — what were your elementary, middle and high schools like?? Let’s share!! ^^

Sitting on that bench you can see on the left, you have no idea how nervous I was as I practiced haha
Ah, looking at it now, the entrance of that building is a circle .. The foundation behind this school is Won-Buddhism
Somehow I get the feeling the two are connected..
This building is the library I couldn’t fit it all in the camera the building is enormous..
With glass exterior walls it feels more modern and trendy, so it never once occurred to me that it was a library

There seem to be a lot of support programs for young people these days. There must be that many opportunities too, but I imagine that isn’t easy either..
That day I took the KTX from Gwangmyeong Station (1 hour 10 minutes), got off at Iksan Station and took a bus for 15 minutes to reach Wonkwang University
Public transport was quite manageable, as it turns out. If you ever have reason to be near here
and you’d like to feel the atmosphere of a university campus again after a long while and take a light stroll, I recommend it wholeheartedly!!
Neighbors living in Jeonbuk!~! It isn’t a flashy, crowded tourist spot, but it’s a place where you can savor some quiet ease and take a gentle walk
Are there other places you would recommend?
Please share!! ^^
