Cheongnyeon Dabang: A Tteokbokki Favorite in Uiwang’s Supsok Maeul

Cheongnyeon Dabang: A Tteokbokki Favorite in Uiwang’s Supsok Maeul

Translated from the Korean original.

I keep introducing tteokbokki these days, don’t I? Hehehe

Tteokbokki is a favorite of mine, so I end up writing about it often~

I ended up having lunch with the daughter of a close younger friend.. She’s in middle school, and she’s sharp and

really fond of me, so I treated her to lunch.

Last time was an old-school tteokbokki place; this time it’s Cheongnyeon Dabang, a fairly well-known cook-at-your-table (jeukseok) tteokbokki chain

Actually, I first ate here about seven years ago, and this day was only my second time.

There’s a Nonghyup data center nearby, so one wave of customers had already come and gone, and since we were having a slightly late lunch

we got a table easily. Haha

I’d been craving that nostalgic cook-at-your-table tteokbokki for a while.. I was wondering where to get takeout from, lol

and I finally got to eat it, hehe

Oops!! I forgot to photograph the menu board, lol

By the way, is Cheongnyeon Dabang’s interior meant to be retro? A little like a local American burger joint?

Anyway, it didn’t really feel like I was eating tteokbokki..

Eating tteokbokki twice in a row, hmm… it must have been a calorie bomb…. but well… cook-at-your-table tteokbokki isn’t something I eat often, hehe

Instead of a set we ordered a la carte: the basic-flavor tteokbokki with chadolbaegi (thin-sliced beef brisket), a cheese topping added, and a mixed fritter platter..

But …the pot was smaller than I expected.. Was I only remembering the old days? Lol

Back in high school there was a cook-at-your-table tteokbokki place called Gamseong Bunsik in front of our school, and that place was a real legend..

The add-in was jjolmyeon noodles… Just thinking about it still makes my mouth water..

The pot was small, way too small lol. Maybe it’s just me lol. The fried mandu you can see over there was tasty too, heh

I should have zoomed in and photographed each dish separately, boo hoo

As soon as the food came out we dug in… so I don’t have many photos, hehe

Here the rice cakes come out thin and long, so you have to cut them with scissors as you eat .

They also fry rice in the leftover sauce here, but we couldn’t manage that far. It was surprisingly filling..

Living up to the name Cheongnyeon Dabang (Young People’s Tea House), they sold drinks too.. We ordered a la carte, but the set menu includes 1 liter of ade

Neither of us drinks soda, so we ordered a la carte, but if you like that sweet-and-salty pairing with ade,

ordering the set menu would be delicious.

What’s your all-time favorite food, neighbors? Some of you must love tteokbokki like me, right?

I have no doubt there are, hehe

Shall we set off on a tteokbokki tour together? Please share the features and addresses of the best tteokbokki spots in your area!!

Let’s eat together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ^^^
