Paik’s Coffee nails both value for money and value for the heart! Personally, I don’t think there’s another cafe that hits this flavor at this price. Of course, I go to Mega Coffee often and like it too.

When I’m on a roll I visit Mega twice a week! But Paik’s Coffee is somewhere I end up going at least once a week. This time I’d been busy with personal things, so it had been ages since I last stopped by the Anyang Station branch — and in the two or three weeks I was away, they had renovated it in the most gorgeous, fresh and warm ye——llow. To exaggerate slightly, opening the door and stepping inside felt a little like walking into a fairytale land, if you will? Hahaha.

Thanks to that, I got to start an early morning in a good mood. But the moment I opened the door and walked in — ugh! That “new apartment” smell, you know the one I mean? They’d redone the sofas and the interior too, so the chemical smell hadn’t cleared out yet… T_T I had three hours to spend there, so even though it was cold we kept the folding door slightly open… T_T

  • Still, isn’t the interior beautifully and neatly done? Being brand new is a plus.
  • The chairs especially — no cushioning and a dead-straight back, so it’s a bit hard on the lower back… well, they’re clean and new, so I’ll let it pass hehe.

I usually come around 9 a.m., which is when the place is normally packed with delivery and takeout orders, but that day it was remarkably quiet. Turns out the machine was broken! Luckily they took orders up to our table and then it broke right after, hahahaha.

The chemical smell left me a bit uneasy, but I was just glad I could drink coffee. The cafe latte is good too, so I’ll have to give it another go next time — hoping my stomach holds up.

Next time I’ll post about my neighborhood regular, Mega Coffee, and maybe one or two other local cafes.

This place has really good desserts, haha.

You all have a regular cafe too, right? What’s the signature drink there?

Share it in the comments!! Who knows? Maybe I’ll go try it!^^

☕ Paik’s Coffee & Korea’s budget coffee culture

  • 💰Americano for KRW 1,500! About a third of the price of Starbucks
  • 🧊The “Ice Wonjo Coffee” (low price, large volume) is the signature menu item
  • 🏪900+ stores nationwide. A cafe cheaper than a convenience store
